The Core Mechanic on July 1st, since I'm going to be focusing all my efforts entirely on Nevermet Press. So, I've been giving a lot of thought to what my last post will be - and what I've come up with is a sort of an audio montage modeled somewhat like the NPR "
This I believe" project. I think, if we can pull it off, it would make for a great last post.
So, I have less than two weeks to collect as many responses as I can. I'm looking for any one of the following, all of which should begin with the phrase
"I am a gamer...":
- An .mp4 or similar audio file, edited however you want but under 15 - 20 seconds in length.
- Send me a link, or leave a link below in the comments, to your own blog or to the location of your audio file on the net somewhere.
- Write it out in the comments below and I'll have it read aloud by one of my Fey Minions. Please keep it less than 5 or 6 sentences.
- Tweet me @thecoremechanic with something short and readable using the hash tag #IAMAG
If you are a blogger, please spread the word about this. Links from your own blog, pointing your readers here would be great! The more voices and viewpoints we get, the better. It would be awesome to get dozens or hundreds of readers viewpoints and voices together and share the reasons behind our passion for gaming. I'm also working on getting a few "figures in the industry" to participate as well.
Once the project is done, I'll make the file available for download as part of my last blog post.

ReplyDeleteI am a gamer. My earliest memories include playing Donkey Kong and Mario Brothers (before they were super!) when I was barely old enough to form memories. Video games, board games, card games and role playing games have dominated my entire life. I am a gamer.

ReplyDeleteI'm a gamer too! A long tail gamer. I get years of enjoyment and fun with my friends out of just a couple of bucks. Plus, gaming gives me the edge I'll need when the apocalypse comes - zombies, nuclear, alien invasion ... whatever.

I am a gamer. In my world I can bend time and create adventures. Who wouldn't want to be able to do that? As a teenager I was amazed my younger brothers imagination and even to this day I strive to retain even an ounce of the creativity my own kids have in abundance. To be able to take people on a journey with only words and a few scribbled drawings is something I'll enjoy my entire life and with luck my kids will share that experience and carry on gaming long after I failed my last saving throw.

i am a gamer, i explore my soul through the darkest depths of dungeons, through the vast expansions of space and the time continuum. I look forward to my after school match, 4v4 is a pass-time, the only super-bowl i worship is the porcelain one in my bathroom. i love creating cities and watching as better players smash them. i love the graphics card that runs my soul, the one and only thing that keeps me gaming is the one place i find necessary to do so. not at school, not near my parents, not in the car, nor in the computer lab. the one place i find necessary is my office, with my top of the line gaming apple and my laser 42 button mouse, online with my international friends and where my world is everything i want and nothing i don't. That is the reason why I Am A Gamer, and Starcraft 2 is, and always will be, my game.
